Getting some #Familytime with David Lloyd | Blog

As you will already know if you follow any of my social media we love going to the gym. We have a membership for our local David Lloyd Club and have been going there for almost a year now and we love it. I do classes there, hubby loves the gym and we all go swimming as a family most Sundays so when I was contacted to ask if I wanted to work with them on their new campaign I jumped at the chance (and did an excited little jig too if we are being honest!!).

David Lloyd Clubs is Europe's premier health, racquets and fitness provider with almost 100 clubs all over the country. We are lucky enough to have 2 clubs very close by to us and yesterday we were invited along to the Basildon branch to try out their facilities and check out the club. This club has recently been given a £1.2 million refurbishment so I was super excited to see what they had to offer and how it differed from my home club at Southend. Hubby, Pickle and I all headed off to the club yesterday excited about the plans ahead. Pickle was off to the crèche whilst hubby and I did a couple of classes, then it was lunch and after that a family swim which pickle was super excited about.

The first thing that I really noticed with the Basildon club and with the David Lloyd brand as a whole is their emphasis on family which I think is why I love it so much. They have amazing facilities for children including classes for ages 3 and up, a kids club and the crèche. Sonny (our lovely tour guide and David Lloyd representative) talked us through all of the things on offer for the littlest members of the club and he mentioned that at the start of each month they even have a club night with a disco or entertainment for all the family to come along to.

The actual gym itself is amazing. You can really see that they have spent money getting top of the range equipment to help people achieve their health and fitness goals. They have numerous treadmills, rowing machine, weights and even a specialist synergy section. We undertook the synergy class on this equipment whilst we were there and I am FEELING it today!!! It was a HIT class using things like ropes, weighted bags, weights...it was pretty hardcore. Whilst I am on the topic of classes there is such a huge range to choose from. In fact, the Basildon club had 3 studios which host over 100 classes per week so you are never short of options.

The swimming pool at this club is lush!!! It is so large and spacious and has a really luxurious feel to it. They not only have 2 swimming pools, 1 indoor and 1 outdoor, they also have a Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna! Perfect for some after work out relaxation or just for a little treat.

The last thing that I wanted to mention about our time at David Lloyd was the staff. Every single staff member I met yesterday was clearly happy in his job. From the crèche staff who looked after pickle so well to Lauren the PT who clearly has such a huge passion for health and fitness and loves to share that with her clients. The reception staff where fantastic, especially Sonny who was like a David Lloyd Basildon tour guide, and it felt like nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the staff. They say that it is people who make a place and I think that is definitely the case with this club.

We had such a great time with the Basildon club yesterday and I am so excited as for the next 3 months I am going to be working with David Lloyd Clubs to get fitter whilst getting more family time. My plan is for us to go swimming at least once a week as a family at our local club as not only will it help pickle become more water confident, it will give us some time together as a family. Keep an eye on my blog and social media to see how we get on.

note: David Lloyd clubs have provided us with a free tree month family membership in return for this collaboration but prior to this we paid for their services and genuine enjoy and would promote the club. All opinions expressed are honest and my own.
