Camping in the Forest at Bracelands | Review

Sometimes life gets so busy and manic that it gets hard to spend quality time with your family. That has been our life recently although it hasn't been particularly busy, rather I haven't been able to do much after the toe breaking incident but I was still desperate for some real quality family time with Hubby and Pickle and thanks to Camping in the Forest we got it!

Last weekend we packed up our car and headed off to the Forest of Dean near the Welsh border to try out one of Camping in the Forests camping pods at their Braceland campsite. I was so excited before we left and I couldn't wait to spend sometime just the three of us. After the 3 and a half hour car journey we arrived and I wasn't disappointed!

The campsite itself is beautiful. It is surrounding by rolling hills and trees for as far as the eye could see. It felt so peaceful and secluded. Once we had checked it at the little reception hut it was time for us to head off to our pod and if I am being honest I had no clue what to expect.

The pod was amazing. It was so much bigger than I expected it to be and was so much more luxurious than a tent. We had plug sockets, lights, a heater and lockable doors so no need to pad lock your stuff away when you head out like you do with a tent. One of the safety features I really liked was the addition of a carbon monoxide and smoke detector inside the pod. Camping usually means using some sort of fire, gas, stove type things so knowing that we were going to be aware if anything went wrong was very reassuring.

The pod was basic but comfortable. You do need to take your own beds and sleeping bags etc but we knew that so within a few minutes we had got ourselves set up and we were ready to roll. We had brought our own gas fire as we were only planning on cooking some bacon in the morning but you can have a coal BBQ and we probably would if we went back again.

I was planning on writing a pros and cons list to review the pods but there really isn't any cons. The pods were warm, spacious, kept out noise, had their own decking area perfect for dinning or chilling out once the children are asleep, plug sockets, lights...the list goes on and on..

If you want to check out a pod out the Bracelands campsite then you can find all of the details here!

Thank you so much to Camping in the Forest for sending us to review their Pod. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back again!

  2. It looks fab - we stayed in a pod once before we had the kids but it didn't have electric and no heating so it was freezing! This looks much better!

  22. We are still to try a camping type pod as we have the dog and we think it would be fun to take him. I just get scared I will get cold as I haven't always liked being in the 'great outdoors'. The pod does look cosy though x
