I've become a dog person!! | Blog

I have never really been a dog person. I don't know if it's because my Dad has quite bad asthma and dog allergies so we were never really around dogs growing up or if it was just because I have never really been into dog but what ever the case is I never expected to be where I am now. We brought our little cockapoo Maisie home 4 months ago and I can honestly say that she has changed me and I am now 100% a dog person!

Maisie was definitely hubbys idea. He has always wanted a dog and I have never been keen but when we spoke about it at the start of the year it was pickle that made the decision for me. He loves dogs and I knew that if we got a puppy, they would become thick as thieves (and I haven't been wrong!). When she came home I was still a bit dubious...the chewing...the peeing in the house...the being a pain in the bum...I wasn't a dog person and she hadn't changed me but now that those first couple of difficult puppy months are over she has become a staple member of our family and made me a dog person.

She is so fully of personality. She loves anything that is stinky and/or disgusting. She loves pickle so much that she cries when he leaves her. She loves to lick feet. She loves to lay as close as she can t you even if that means that she is laying behind your head on the sofa. She loves to sit by the window and watch the world go by. She hates the hamster. She loves cheese and cocktail sausages. She hates it when hubby wears suit trousers. It makes her leg twitch when you tickle her belly.

I think it's clear to see that I have become a dog person. I love our little puppy so much more than I ever thought I would. Yes she can be a pain in the butt at times but I wouldn't change her for the world!

  1. This is so lovely! We had our dog from when Lily was three - a boxer dog called Hero. Unfortunately she had to be put down last year as she had bowel cancer - conoletely devastating. Lily hasn't asked about getting another dog yet, and although me and the husband hage considered it we are worried about going through that process again! Gorgeous pup you have love cockapoos!

  3. Ahh I love this. We have a cavapoo!! He is a big white ball of fluff and although he barks allllll the time, he's totally adorable and amazing with the children. I think a dog is such a lovely part of the family, I adore watching the bond between him and the children, and also when they are all out at school or nursery I love that he keeps me company!

  6. What a cutie! I was always a cat person, then an ex-boyfriend of mine brought me a beagle for Christmas and I just loved him. He was the best company and he lasted longer than the boyfriend!!!!

  7. How sweet Ami. Daisy is such a cute little pup and one of my daughters would adore her and is desperate for a dog. I'm quite glad we can't have one where we live right now but who knows in the future. Mich x

  9. Maisie looks adorable - and seems as if she's slotted into family life perfectly! I'm allergic to cats so have always been a dog person; although not sure I'll even be brave enough to take the plunge and have one of our own!

  10. I am so glad I read this. Not because I ever think I'll be a dog person- I'm terrified of them and i don't think that will change any time soon! But we're about to adopt a kitten, something the rest of the family have wanted to do for so long, only I've been dragging my feet. I'm scared! But I'm hoping it will be a fantastic experience for us all, the kitten included. Your post gives me hope! xx

  11. Oh this made me laugh the fact that she hates the hamster! I am not a dog person, and neither is Hubby. We have a cat at the moment but can't see us ever getting a dog just because of the amount of work and the fact we like to up sticks and go away at weekends. Saying that I know Monkey would love one. And she is totally adorable! X
