Family Day out at The Eden Project, Cornwall | AD Review

Note: we were gifted entrance into the Eden Project in return for this review but all opinion are honest and my own.

When you think of Cornwall what springs to mind?

Beautiful sandy beaches.
Delicious Cornish ice cream.
Indulgent Fudge.
Waves and surfing.
Rainforests and vineyards.

Yes, that's right, I said rainforests and vineyards and no, I’m not losing my mind! Whilst we were in Cornwall last, we were able to visit a real forest, walk through clouds and even sample Baobab fruit smoothies and here is how…

The Eden Project is a totally surreal, jaw dropping landscape that you’ll find hiding inside a huge quarry in Bodelva, Cornwall. The attraction started its life as a huge clay pit which was reclaimed and turned into the beautiful landscape that you can visit now. The main attraction are the two iconic biomes (or bubbles as Pickle likes to call them) which are home to more than one million plants from all different corners of the world. Inside one of the biomes is the worlds largest indoor rainforest whilst the other focuses on the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean Biome was stunning and there was so much to see and do. From huge aloe Vera to the rolling vineyard, it was beautiful to walk around.

As good as the Mediterranean biome was, the Rainforest Biome was like walking into another world. All of us were amazed at what we say walking around this dome. Smidge literally stayed silent the whole way around because there was just so much for him to look at. Pickle on the other hand was off and exploring and in his element. There was so much for him to discover and learn. The highlights of this Biome for me included the cloud bridge where you can walk through a real cloud, the rainforest water fall and the exotic fruit area with a smoothie shack where you can taste Baobab smoothies!

The newest addition to the landscape is The Core which is an interactive education centre. Inside here you can learn more about Eden’s central message about the relationship between people and plants. The invisible world exhibition left me speechless. One of the focal points in this exhibition is the Infinity Blue Sculpture which is 8.5 meters tall and ‘breathes’ vapour rings. Pickle and Smidge had endless fun running around trying to catch the rings whilst I sat back watching the sculpture in awe! It truly needs to be seen to be believed!

And if all of that wasn’t enough for you then there are all the outdoor gardens and sculptures to visit too! Along with the restaurants, bars, cafes, ice cream parlour and coffee shop AND a 2 amazing, eco shops you really will never run out of things to do at Eden.

I would seriously recommend visiting the Eden Project if you are ever in Cornwall as it really is a place that needs to be seen to be believed. I have never visited anywhere like it before and I don’t think I ever will again…until our next visit because we will most certainly be heading back soon!!
