Is blogging dying?? | Blog

We live in a world where everyone wants to know everything as quick as they possibly can. Let me take you back to 2000, only 17 short years ago...if you wanted to know what the weather was going to be like tomorrow you would have to read a newspaper or wait for the news to come on so you could see the weather report at the end. If you wanted to know the answers to those burning questions such as how long does it take to boil an egg or what the capital of India is then you would have to look in a book. Information wasn't at our finger tips as it is now and I feel that it has turned us into such an impatient generation. People don't like to read anymore. They want info and entertainment in the quickest form so that they can get on with their day. News apps are more popular than newspapers these days. The apps only give you the basic facts of the news stories. No journalism is really needed as people just want the info NOW. This is why I think blogging is dying.

I could spend hours writing. I sometimes write a blog pot and think to myself ''Bloody hell...that's a lot of words'' and funnily enough, even though those posts are probably my best written, most heart
felt posts, they have the lowest views. People don't want to read reams and reams anymore. They don't want a picture painted for them in words. They just want to know what's going on in the fastest way possible. I have noticed in the last few months that the blogs that seem to be the most popular at the moment are the ones that produce short, snappy, entertaining posts and if I am being honest, I enjoy reading them too. It doesn't take too long, I can have a read whilst I am waiting for the kettle to boil and it doesn't take 10 minutes out of my day that sometimes I just don't have.

It feels like blogging is dying. Micro bloggers and vloggers seem to be becoming more and more popular and I can really see why. Micro blogging (for those who don't know) is when people blog through their social media. There are loads of examples of this on Facebook and so many of them have become hugely popular in the last year or so. It's quick to read, easy to access and no fuss. It makes so much sense why someone would rather jump on their Facebook to read a snappy, funny update that takes 1 minute rather than spending about 10 minutes navigating to someone's blog and reading a post. It's also so much easier to interact on Facebook. Leave a comment and see what everyone else is writing...it becomes so much more interactive and real time than traditional blogging.

This is why I am questioning whether or not I want to continue on my blog. I still want to document my life and share my experiences with people but I just don't now if this space is the best medium anymore. Sitting down to write sometimes feels like such a chore yet doing an Instagram story takes seconds and still gives me the same gratification of getting my stories out there. For now I am going to dip my toe a little more into the micro blogging and vlogging waters (Thanks to my beautiful blogging mummy's crew for the boost around my vlogging) and see how I get on as blogging in this form isn't really doing it for me all that much anymore.

What do you think? Is blogging dead?
