Local Business Love! | Blog

Being self employed and running your own business can be hard. This blog is basically my business ad I know first hand how hard it is to make any money from it. It can be so hard to get your products ad services seen and heard about especially thanks to Facebook and the fact that they seem to want to make everyone pay for ads now to get your content seen by anyone! That's why I thought I'd start a little monthly (or possibly bi monthly) feature where I share some of my favourite small/local business that I've come across. These blog posts won't be sponsored or paid for or anything like that, it's all about sharing some love and getting these small businesses the appreciation and attention that they deserve!!

If you run a business or if you have a business that you think deserves to be featured then feel free to contact me via social media or via email at throughamiseyes@gmail.com

Anyway, enough of my chit chat... lets get into it!

Rockamilly, Leigh on Sea Essex
Rockamilly is a boutique clothes store in Leigh Broadway in Essex that specialises in pin up/50s style clothing BUT don't let that fool you into thinking that you won't be able to find anything to wear apart from poodle skirts and petticoats. I brought a dress for my 30th birthday from there (which I still haven't worn as it was bloody boiling and I am desperate for a chance to wear it!) and the dress wasn't the only thing that was amazing. The staff in the store are so brilliant! I mean, I am slightly biased as I have a friend who works in there (she's mermaid on sea on Insta of you want to drool over her fashion style and coolness!) but all the staff are clearly so passionate about what they do. They give out amazing advice, let you try on whatever you want and don't pressure you to buy or rush you. I'd really recommend checking them out if you are ever looking for something special to wear.

Simply Personal Co, Essex
This small business is run by a fellow Mumma from Pickles school and I love what she has to offer! She creates personalised gifts by hand meaning that no two items are ever the same. From personalised stocking and Christmas pyjamas to personalised baby shower favours and water bottles, she really does it all. And she does it all whilst juggling two children and a job! She really is super Mum and deserves all the support and praise in the world! Make sure you head over to her Facebook page here to see whats on offer: https://www.facebook.com/SimplyPersonalCo/

Little Life Steps, Essex
Sue from Little Life Steps is an actual miracle maker! Well, that's not her official job title but it's what I'd call her. Sue is actually sleep consultant, baby massage teacher, weaning adviser and potty training wizard and Little Life Steps was created by Sue as a way to help parents during tough time and milestones. We had the pleasure of Sues help with Smidge wouldn't sleep (she gifted us her service in return for an review which you can read by clicking here.) and she honestly changed our lives. Sue runs numerous workshops over Essex and offers a 1:1 service either face to face or via the phone so if you every feel like you need help then look her up as she is amazing!

As you wish Balloons, Leigh on Sea Essex
When we had our 30th birthday party back in April we used this company as they were the most reasonable ones that we found. The price was brilliant but what I wasn't prepared for was just how good her service was! She came to our event, delivered the balloons and set them all up for us and was just so lovely and helpful. It was a super hot day so she told us what to do to stop them from dropping and they balloons themselves were fantastic! I'd definitely recommend checking them out for your next birthday or event.

Sounds Right Phonics Classes
If you've followed my blog for a while then you will know that we are huge fans of the Sounds Right Phonics Classes and I couldn't talk about my favourite local brands and companies without mentioning them. Sounds Right Phonics is actually a franchise which I suppose some may see as not local or small but the individuals who run their ares are the ones I want to shout about (although the ladies behind the brand are so lovely and wonderful too!!). We were lucky enough to have Lauren as our teacher when Pickle went to the classes and aside from being a lovely, caring lady, she is a brilliant teacher and group leader. The classes are fun, educational and keep the kids involved and engaged at all times. I wrote a full review about Lauren class here and you can see where the closest class is to you by checking out the Sounds Right Phonics website.

So there you have it, my favourite local or small businesses for November! I hope that you can go and give them some support and don't forget to get in touch if you want to be featured!
